Chamber members begin voting for community award

Voting for the annual Portervill­e Chamber of Commerce community awards is underway.

The chamber sent out the list of nominees for Community Service Project of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Large Business of the Year, Woman of the Year and Man of the Year to its membership earlier this week. Chamber members have access to bios on each nominee. Voting is being handled electronic­ally.

The honorees will be announced Friday, Nov. 3, at the annual awards dinner. The black-tie affair will begin at 5:30 p.m. for networking at Nuckol’s Ranch, 13144 Road 216. Dinner is scheduled for around 6:30 p.m., followed by the awards at 7 p.m. Tickets are $45.

Nominated for Woman of the Year are Mickie Manning and Virginia Gurrola.

Nominated for Man of the Year is Milt Stowe.

Nominated for Small Business of the Year are Myers Funeral Service, Townsend Architectu­ral Group and Smith’s Roofing.

Nominated for Large Business of the Year are Eagle Mountain Casino, The Oak Pit, Young’s Commercial Trucking, Sierra Management and Sierra View Medical Center.

The Community Service Project of the Year nominees are U.S. Marines Toys for Tots and Grab a Bench.

Female and male Youths of the Year have not been announced.

Tickets can purchased at the chamber office, 93 N. Main St. No tickets will be sold at the door.
