First-ever Lindsay 3K Walk and Health Fair is Oct. 28

Healthy Kids, Healthy Lindsay, Kaweah Delta Health Care District, Lindsay Wellness Center, Tulare County Health & Human Services Agency, and Lindsay residents are collaborat­ing to hold their first-ever 3K Walk and Health Fair on Saturday, Oct. 28.

Registrati­on for the walk starts at 7:30 a.m. and the 3K walk begins at 8 a.m. The first 100 people will get a T-shirt and or a pedometer to track their steps. The walk will be kicked off by Kaweah Delta’s Population Health Director, Ryan Gates.

The health fair begins at 9 a.m. and Lindsay’s Mayor, Pam Kimball will be there to offer welcoming remarks. This free community/ family event will take place on Saturday, Oct.

The prospectiv­e adopter may visit the animal control shelter and select the animal in which they are interested. After the animal is selected, the owner is required to complete an adoption contract.

The shelter is located at 23611 Road 196, Lindsay, and is open from noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and closed on Sunday. The phone number is 28, at Lindsay’s City Park located on the corner of Sequoia and Parkside avenues. The main focus of the event is diabetes education and prevention.

This family friendly event will feature local talent entertainm­ent such as Senaido Aleman and Dulce Navarro (La Barbie de Michoacan), Bailoterap­ia (Dance Therapy) Demonstrat­ions, Quinto Sol’s Ballet Folklorico, Self-defense Demonstrat­ion, Guitar performanc­e by Lindsay High School students, family activities such as a soccer goal challenge and a track clinic, bounce houses and lots of opportunit­ies to win prizes.

In addition to this, the Lindsay Kiwanis Club will be holding a bike rodeo in the parking lot of the Lindsay Community Center.

Visit the over 20 resource/informatio­nal booths and free health screenings such as vision screenings for children, Blood Pressure checks, and Fall Prevention/balance screenings.

Tulare County Health and Human Services Agency will be providing free flu shots for the first 100 people. Learn more about diabetes through an educationa­l presentati­on by a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator.

This event is sponsored by the Lindsay Local Hospital District, Kaweah Delta Health Care District, Alexandra Barbershop, Nathan and Maria Ross and many other local businesses.
