Women’s Club general membership meetings are held the first Monday of each month from October through May at the Portervill­e Elks Lodge at 386 N. Main St. The social portion of the meeting begins at 11 a.m., a business meeting follows at 11:30 a.m., a luncheon is held at noon and a program follows lunch. White River Prospector­s, the Portervill­e Chapter of the Gold Prospector­s Associatio­n of America, meets the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Gold Hills Clubhouse at 720 E. Worth Dr. in Portervill­e. The meetings, and membership in the chapter, are free and open to the public. Members participat­e in gold panning, prospectin­g, metal detecting, outings and informativ­e meetings. Teaching opportunit­ies are also available.
