Dolores Rosso passed away peace­fully at her res­i­dence in Fresno, Cal­i­for­nia on the evening of Wed­nes­day, Novem­ber 8, 2017. She was 92 years old. She was born on Fe­bru­ary 22, 1925 to Jack and Kathryn Souza.

Dolores was a child of the Great De­pres­sion and came of age dur­ing WWII. Af­ter the war, Dolores mar­ried her husband of 61 years, Al­bert. To­gether, they owned and op­er­ated sev­eral suc­cess­ful small busi­nesses, in­clud­ing the renowned Rosso's Ital­ian Res­tau­rant in Woodville, Cal­i­for­nia.

A de­vout Catholic, Dolores spent count­less hours in ser­vice to her par­ish and com­mu­nity. She taught cat­e­chism for many years, but was most proud of the time and en­ergy she con­trib­uted to the decade-long ef­fort to build a Catholic church in the com­mu­nity of Woodville, Cal­i­for­nia (today the Saint Fran­cis of As­sisi Mis­sion).

Dolores was pre­ceded in death by her par­ents, her husband, Al­bert, and her brother, Bernard. She is sur­vived by her two chil­dren, Cather­ine and Mario, as well as many nieces and neph­ews. She will be re­mem­bered for a life ded­i­cated to hard work, sac­ri­fice, and com­pas­sion for oth­ers.

There will be a view­ing at 3pm on Wed­nes­day, Novem­ber 15th at Myer’s Funeral Chapel in Porter­ville, and a Rosary at 6pm the same day. The mass will be at 9am on Thurs­day, Novem­ber 16th at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Porter­ville, with a grave­side ser­vice at Woodville Pub­lic Ceme­tery (17203 Av­enue 168 in Woodville).
