The Barn Theater will be producing “The Lion, The Witch and

The Wardrobe” for eight performanc­es starting with an evening show on Dec. 1. Evening shows at 7:30 p.m. continue on Dec. 2, 8, 9, 15 and 16. Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m. are Dec. 3 and 10 with a brunch show at 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 10. Cost for the evening or matinees are $15 per adult, $10 per senior or student and $5 children younger than 12, and cost for the brunch show is 15 per person, reservatio­ns needed by Dec. 6. The play is directed by Edie La Vonne. Set in the land of Narnia, “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe” faithfully recreates the magic and mystery of Aslan, the great lion, his struggle with the White Witch, and the adventures of four children who inadverten­tly wander from an old wardrobe into the exciting, never-tobe-forgotten Narnia. The intense action features chases, duels and escapes as the witch is determined to keep Narnia in her possession and to end the reign of Aslan. The annual Lighting of the Memorial Christmas Tree and Craft Fair in the Springvill­e Park will be Dec. 1. The event starts at noon with craft vendors opening their booths. Reading of the names on the Memorial Plaque will begin at 6 p.m. The event includes lighting the tree, Christmas carols, performanc­es in the gazebo, a live nativity scene, and pictures with Santa Claus. Hot cocoa, cider, cookies, and a bowl of Dutch oven stew will also be available, and free for those who make donations to the Springvill­e Volunteer Fire Department food bank. The Rollin’ Relics Car Club will collect toys for area children at their monthly cruise night Friday, Dec. 1. The community is invited to drop off unwrapped toys, for needy children at the Pizza Factory parking lot, corner of Henderson and Porter Road, between 5-7 p.m. Portervill­e Toys for Tots targets families in need, with input from schools. Without this toy drive, many of the local children would have a limited Christmas. All types of unwrapped toys are welcome, but a stuffed animal will put a certain sparkle in the eye of a child. Cash donations to go toward the purchase of toys, also will be accepted. The club still invites the community to bring their classic, hot rod, custom car, finished or not to display at the “Show and Shine” Cruise Night held the first Friday from March through November. “A Tribute to Johnny Cash” starring James Garner is coming on Dec. 2 to the Lindsay Community Theater. Show starts at 7:30 p.m., and tickets are only $20 at the door. The 25th Anniversar­y Christmas Home Tour is Saturday, Dec. 2 from 12 to 4 p.m. Tickets are just $30 and include the Artisan Boutique. Tickets can be purchased prior to the event allowing patrons to start at any home by calling 361-0640. Zonta locally is a major donor to the Family Crisis Center, offers scholarshi­ps to high school and college re-entry students, and provides Bosom Buddies to victims of breast cancer. Portervill­e Historical Museum is celebratin­g its 52nd Anniversar­y by hosting “All You Can Eat Breakfast Buffet” at Applebee’s. Old Fashioned Christmas Open House sponsored by the Tule River Historical Society will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3 at the Springvill­e Historical Museum. Patty Torrey and friends will be making music throughout the afternoon. Blacksmith­ing, weaving, woodworkin­g, butter churning and cider pressing will be a few of the activities of the day. The back country cookers will be serving up a variety of their specialty foods. Refreshmen­ts, hot cider and much more will be served as Rosemary plays the piano in the Historical Murphy House. Come and kick off the Christmas season the oldfashion­ed way. Admission is free. Springvill­e Historical Museum is located at 34902 Highway 190 in Springvill­e, enter through the rodeo gates.

Sierra Vocal Arts Ensemble will present its annual Christmas concert “Lessons In Carols” at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3 at First United Methodist Church. Tickets for the concert are $20 for seniors and students and $25 for everyone else. A Country Craft Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3 at the Exeter Memorial Building, 324 N. Kaweah Ave. The free event, which is being sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary No. 94, will feature handmade items, including toys, gifts, wood crafts, jewelry, art, apparel, jelly, jams and more. All items will be available for purchase. Tables for vendors are available for $25. All proceeds from the rental of tables will be used to fund veteran’s programs throughout the year. For over 50 years, the Exeter American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 94 has hosted a Country Craft Fair.

The Family Crisis Center Christmas tree raffle will be held on Thursday, Dec. 7. This year’s tree has been beautifull­y decorated by Darrell Walters of The Flower Mill, who donated the ornaments for the tree as well as his time decorating it. Anyone can buy a raffle ticket for $5 each and enter to win the entirely decorated tree as is. The raffle tickets will be sold until Thursday, Dec. 7. Tickets can be purchased at the Family Crisis Center, located at 211 N. Main St., at Treasure’s Thrift Store, 88 E. Mill St., or from the center’s board members. Board members include president Mickie Manning, vice president Robert Dempsie, secretary Debbie Estrada, treasurer Janice Castle, Robert Krase, Sharon Fusco, Karen Vanni, John Lollis and Donna Keeley. The proceeds from the Christmas tree raffle will go toward the emergency shelter program, which offers shelter for victims of domestic violence and women and children who are victims of homelessne­ss. Portervill­e Historical Museum’s 33rd Annual Model Trains and Antique Toy Exhibit starts on Friday, Nov. 24. This event was started by the Underwater Trains Society and “has become the largest model train show in Tulare County.” The head Engineer Dr. Don Stover has increased the exhibit by adding his experience, time, money and love of trains. His fellow engineers Rick Struble, Sam Winters, Ann Zimmerman, Jerry Kirby, Judy Holloway and Don Wheeler have added a circus setup and a tribute to our military troops. The museum will have antique toys from the collection of Bill Warner that your grandparen­ts or great-grandparen­ts played with. Joe Sanchez will exhibit his handmade art collection of tanks, airplanes, motorcycle­s, etc. This year the museum will open on Sundays, Dec. 3, 10, 17, and 31 from 1 to 4 p.m. The museum will also be open from Dec. 26 to 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Museum is located at 257 N. D St. in Portervill­e. Admission is $5 for adults, $1 for students, and 6 years and younger are free. There is no charge for Friends of the Museum and Sponsors.
