Cardinals still looking for first win

The Lindsay High School boys basketball team fell 44-38 to Coalinga in the first game of the Sierra Pacific Golden Bear Tip Off Classic tournament in Hanford Wednesday.

After falling behind 169, the Cardinals kept the rest of the game close by outscoring Coalinga 10-8 in the second quarter and were only outscored 20-19 in the second half.

Granite Hills 68 Wonderful College Prep 26

Granite Hills’ boys basketball team got their first win of the season with a 68-26 rout of Wonderful College Prep Academy Tuesday at home.

Armando Cabrera led the Grizzlies with 16 points followed by Austin Edmonds with 15 and Shane Lozano with 10. Cabrera also led the team in assists with seven while Lozano had a team-high five rebounds. Alejandro Linares led in steals with five and finished with five points.

Granite Hills 48 Fowler 40

The Granite Hills girls basketball team began the Fowler High School tournament with a 48-40 win over Fowler Wednesday evening.

Mcfarland 67 Strathmore 60

Strathmore girls basketball fell 67-60 at Mcfarland in Tuesday’s non-league game.

The Spartans had a 33-25 lead through the first half, but were outscored 42-27 in the second half.

Liberty 54 Monache 41

Monache girls basketball lost 54-41 on the road to Liberty in Tuesday’s non-league game.

Down 24-23 after the first half, the Patriots outscored the Marauders 30-18 in the second half.

Strathmore 3 Orange Cove 1

Strathmore boys soccer picked up their first win of the season in a 3-1 victory over Orange Cove on the road Tuesday.

After the Titans scored the first goal of the game, the Spartans’ striker Osvaldo Ibarra tied the game with a goal off an assist from Andrew Reyes. Two goals from SHS forward Ivan Cid off assists from Alejandro Bermudez sealed the win for Strathmore.
