Grizzlies boys soccer beat Redcats
Granite Hills High School’s Ivan Ayon scored the team’s lone goal in the boys soccer team’s 1-0 victory over Fowler Tuesday evening at Jacob Rankin Stadium.
“The game was tense, it was back and forth,” GHHS assistant coach Angel Ruiz said. “Fowler was a good team, but we managed to control the game and maintain the score 1-0 throughout the rest of the game.”

vera said the Panthers were trailing 1-0 at halftime, but after an injury to the team’s goalkeeper the game “went downhill from there.”

Granite Hills boys basketball beat Cesar
Chavez 55-49 at home in Monday’s non-league game.
Armando Cabrera led the Grizzlies in scoring with 17 points. He also had three assists, three steals and four rebounds. Ever Astorga finished with 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

PHS 27th at Bay Area tourney
Porterville girls wrestling
placed 27th out of 40 teams with 26 points at a tournament in San Jose over the weekend.
Lizeth Fuentes placed sixth in the 160-pound weight class after going 2-2 and Maria Lizeth Hernandez also placed sixth in the 143-pound weight class after going 2-2. Julissa Caballero (137) also went 2-2, but did not place and Madison Madina (143) went 1-2.
