The El Granito Foundation announced that for the 44th year it will be providing holiday meals and Christmas parties for community members in need, and this year they urgently need donations from the Porterville community.

The foundation will be hosting the events in two locations. The first will be on Dec. 19 at the El Granito Worship Center, 19667 Avenue 195 in Plainview, where food will be served from 10 a.m. until 1p.m., and the children’s Christmas party will be from 1 to 3 p.m.

The events for Porterville will be held on separate days to better accommodate the large number of expected guests. The foundation will be hosting a Christmas food basket giveaway on Dec. 21 from 12 to 3 p.m. at their office at 383 W. Date Ave. in Porterville. The children’s Christmas party will be held at the same location on Dec. 22 from 1 to 5 p.m.

For both Christmas parties, Santa will be in attendance to give gifts to all children who attend, and refreshments will be provided.

The foundation has expressed an urgent need for several items this year to help with the events. Gift cards and cash donations are greatly needed, as well as toys for children of all ages for the Christmas parties. They are in need of sleeping bags, blankets, jackets, sweatshirts, socks, sweatpants and tents to give to homeless community members, as well as canned goods, hot chocolate, apple cider and non-perishable items. Donations can be dropped off at their office at 383 W. Date Ave. in Porterville.
