Candlelight tours continue tonight

- Parks and Leisure Donnie Moore

G et in the holiday spirit with an “Old Fashioned Christmas” Candlelight Tour at the Zalud House. Drop in anytime tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. for a guided visit of the museum. Built in 1891, it is one of the few houses of that era that has not undergone remodeling. The candlelight tours feature music, refreshments, seasonal displays and vintage decorations owned by the Zalud family. The tours will also take place Dec. 15 and 16. Admission is only $3 for adults and $1 for children.

Senior Christmas Luncheon tomorrow

A small amount of tickets will be available for purchase at the door tomorrow for our annual Senior Christmas Luncheon. This event will take place at Burton Middle School with doors opening at 1 p.m. Plenty of things for attendees to look forward to including a fully catered meal, live music by the Fabulous Studio Band, and plenty of raffle prizes. Admission is $10 while tickets are available. Special thanks to Burton Middle School for hosting and its Leadership Team for serving the food.

Holiday break is fast approaching

This is the coveted time off for students and their teachers to relax before diving into the New Year. There is only one problem, you have to go to work! If you want to keep your kids busy and engaged while they are out of school, sign them up for our Winter Day Camp. It is a safe and fun environment for your child and our staff will lead campers in a wide variety of activities each day. The camp runs on weekdays starting Dec. 18 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and is designed for ages 5-12. Visit us at the Heritage Center for more information and to sign up.

Photos with Santa

There are still plenty of opportunities to get a photo with Santa himself. Dec. 12 from 10:30 a.m. to noon he will be at the library. Photos are free if you provide a non-perishable food item or an unwrapped to for Toys for Tots. That same evening at Centennial Park Santa will be front and center once again thanks to Porterville Police Department and the Chamber of Commerce. This event will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

Contact the library for information on other dates that Santa will be on site. Also, the library is an excellent place for young and old alike to stay busy. From arts and crafts to computer classes to ping pong, there are far too many upcoming fun things available to mention in this column. Call 7840177, for all the details.
