Jim Winton
Jim Winton, father, brother and friend to all, joined his dear wife Nancy in Heaven on December 2, 2017. Jim was born in Bakersfield, California to Herbert and Dorothy Winton on April 30, 1938. He spent most of his childhood in Fresno and he graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1956. While attending Fresno State College he went to work for the Division of Highways where he met the love of his life, Nancy. They married in June of 1959. In 1964, they had their first child and moved to Tulare County. In 1970, after designing the subdivision and picking the perfect lot, Jim and Nancy built their forever home in Springville. Jim made his mark as a civil engineer and helped shape Tulare County into what it has become today. He dedicated his life to improving the community in which he lived. He was a devoted husband and father to his wife and three children and provided them many wonderful life experiences. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nancy, his brother-inlaw Vann Bryan and his niece Michelle Barrows. He will be forever missed by his son Mark and wife Regina; daughter Kimberly; son Michael and wife Sheila; sister Donna Bryan; sister-in-law Charlotte and husband Sam Shabaglian; grandchildren Michael, Luke, Ethan, Kyra, Piper and Lauren; nephews, nieces, extended family and dear friends. Jim, you will never be forgotten as you are someone who gave us so much to remember. A celebration of life will be held at the Porterville Veterans Memorial Hall on Monday, December 18 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Harmony Magnet Foundation would be appreciated.
