Porterville Community Strings began more than 10 years ago, as an opportunity for adults to participate in a local String Orchestra. The all-volunteer ensemble has appeared at numerous community and civic events, and has a wellearned reputation for their musical presentations.
This special musicale is presented annually as a holiday gift to the community.
For singing and listening pleasure, many of the traditional Christmas carols of the season are included in the afternoon’s program.
Featured presentation “Bach For Christmas” will combine several traditional Christmas Carols with some of the most beloved masterpieces of Johann Sebastian Bach.
In contrast, the lively “Fantasy on Old Chanukah” combines traditional Jewish themes in a most joyful setting. A tribute to Scott Joplin is included in the gentle notes of “The Yuletide Rag.” Other holiday classics include the beautiful melodies of “Carol of the Bells,” and Irving Berlin’s timeless “White Christmas.”
