Pirates men’s basketball top Raiders
Twenty-point performances from Porterville College’s Malik Mccowan and Elijah Cardenas led the Pirates past the Raiders of Moorpark in Monday’s 99-85 victory on the road.
Sophomore Mccowan finished the night with a game-high 23 points and nine assists. He was also 9-of-11 from the free throw line and had six rebounds. Cardenas finished with 22 points, led the team in scoring in the first half with 12 points and made three 3-pointers. The freshman also had five rebounds and four assists. Sophomore Carlos Angel had 15 points and sophomore Elijah Mascorro chipped in 14. Off the bench, sophomore Jackson Cascio had 11 points.
Porterville is 5-5 on the season and travels to play Oxnard today at 6 p.m. The Pirates beat the Condors 99-95 on Nov. 15.

Monache High School girls basketball team beat Cesar Chavez, 4338, on the road in a nonleague game Monday evening.
Cailee Schrein led the Marauders with 15 points followed by Alissa Rodriguez with five.

Granite Hills High School boys basketball beat Farmersville, 5952, Monday in their first game at the Frank Ainley Classic tournament at Woodlake High School.
