Grizzlies boys basketball win Frank Ainley tourney
The Granite Hills High School boys basketball defeated Mendota, 55-32, to win the Frank Ainley Tournament at Woodlake High School Thursday evening for their sixth straight win.
Miguel Felix was selected Most Valuable Player and finished with nine points, six rebounds and six steals. Abraham Gabinete received and All-tourney selection and had 14 points and four assists. Strathmore boys basketball team fell 72-33 Thursday evening in the third-place game of the Frank Ainley Tournament hosted by Woodlake High School.
Miguel Samano led the Spartans with 10 points, Josue Topete had six and Jadon Guire had five. Nick Salas had six blocks.

Strathmore girls basketball was able to overcome a five-point deficit
with 33 seconds left in the game to pull out a 4543 victory at the Dinuba and Orosi high school tournament Thursday.
Kaija Ambriz made the winning basket with 4 seconds on the clock for SHS. Jazmine Soto led the way for the Spartans with 20 points,
six rebounds and three steals. Jasmin Cardenas chipped in nine points. Vanessa Chapa had eight rebounds, seven points four assists and four steals. Next opponent for the Spartans will be the winner of the Orosi-mt. Whitney game, on Friday at 8 p.m. at Orosi.
Porterville 50 Madera 22
Porterville girls basketball improved to 9-1 with a 50-22 win over Madera at the Dinuba and Orosi high school tournament Thursday. It was the Panthers’ eighth double-digit win of the season.
