Assault on a peace officer Tuesday

An Earlimart man was arrested Tuesday evening after reportedly assaulting a Tulare County Sheriff’s Deputy.

At approximately 9:58 pm. Tuesday, TCSO deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 600 block of Bent Ranch Avenue. Deputies contacted the driver, later determined to be Armador Fernandez-duran, 43, of Earlimart, who immediately exited his vehicle after stopping.

Fernandez-duran refused to comply with the deputies’ commands and became combative. He attempted to grab a deputy’s firearm and then fled on foot.

The deputies pursued and Fernandez-duran became combative assaulting deputies as he was being taken into custody.

Three deputies sustained injuries during this altercation. Fernandez-duran was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assault on a peace office.
