Robert John Herrera Sr.

Robert was born in San Bernardino California on July 26, 1946 to Manuel and Mary Herrera. His family moved to Porterville in 1958.

He went to John J. Doyle Elementary school, Pioneer Jr. High, and graduated from Porterville High School in 1966. He also went to college in Los Angeles California for two years.

During this time, Robert married his high school sweetheart Frances (Rodriguez) Herrera in 1967. Robert was a Farm Labor Contractor for many years with his father and brother for the family owned business, Herrera Trucking.

He was preceded in death by his father Manuel J. Herrera, mother Mary Herrera, brother Manuel F. Herrera, and sister Gloria (Herrera) Connell. He was a wonderful man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends who also knew him as the Mexican Elvis and his love for music.

Robert peacefully passed away on January 05,201 8 at the age of 71. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Frances Herrera.

He had 4 children, Kathy Riley (Charlotte, NC), Mary Sell (Porterville, CA), Robert Herrera Jr. (Porterville, CA) and Nancy Jimenez (Porterville, CA). Robert had 7 grandchildren who he loved dearly, David Riley, Scott Riley, Jeremy Sell, Kelly Riley, Caleb Jimenez, Joshua Jimenez and Joslen Jimenez. He also had one sister, Esther (Herrera) Walker.

A visitation will be held at Church of the Covenant located at 76 W. Harrison Ave in Porterville, Ca. on Thursday January 25, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at Church of the Covenant on Friday January 26, 2018 at 11:OO AM. Interment to follow at Vandalia Cemetery.
