Anthony Martin, director of school resources and support for Burton School District, announced Thursday his candidacy for Tulare County Superintendent of Schools.
Martin has 14 years of experience as an educator. For the past 9 years, three of which have been at Burton School District, Martin has working in leadership roles for Tulare County school districts.

He attended California State University Long Beach, and graduated in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies. He then moved back to Porterville, where he met his wife of 13 years and began to build his family of five boys.

His experience in teaching and additional education led to an administrative role with Earlimart School District in 2009, where he served as a vice principal, instructional data specialist, and then director of state and federal programs.
Martin completed his educational doctorate in leadership and management through Capella University in March of 2013, and now serves as the director of educational services: school resources and support at Burton School District.

Martin currently serves on the Porterville Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors, as treasurer of the Burton Educational Partnership Foundation, and as a PTA member.
Martin was recently awarded the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) Pupil Personnel Administrator of the Year Award and Pupil Personnel Administrator of the Year award for Region 11.
