The Porterville Garden
Club meets the second Monday of each month September through May at the Barn Theater, 42 S. Plano St. The social portion of the meeting begins at 11 a.m., a business meeting follows at 11:30 a.m., a luncheon is held at noon and a program follows lunch. st. James Anglican Church is hosting the annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner on Tuesday, Feb. 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Lindsay Memorial Building. Cost is $6 at the door for the pancake supper, raffle and music.
the World Ag Expo Arena Feb. 13-15 will once again offer daily Equipment Showcases, where exhibitors will perform live demonstrations of their latest products. Seminars will be offered in a variety of categories, including dairy, irrigation, international trade, business and farm management, marketing and media, and general agriculture. These seminars are presented by professionals in the industry and provide attendees with valuable information to improve their operations. It is held at the sprawling Internation Agri-center grounds on South Laspina Street in Tulare. MONDAY A Read to Succeed Adult Literacy Tutor Orientation is held each Monday from 10 a.m. to noon. TUESDAY Tulare County Resource Family Approval, previously known as Foster Care Licensing, offers orientations twice per month for prospective Resource families. Orientations are held from 6 to 9 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays at the Professional Development Center, 4031 W. Noble Ave. Entrance is at the bottom of the two-story building next to Employment Connection. Orientations are held on the second floor. The door will be locked at 6 p.m. People who are interested in helping will need to attend one orientation meeting, and meet requirements such as being at least 18 years old, being financially able to support their own family, having no criminal record and a clear health screening and being certified in CPR and first aid.
