will hold book sales on the first Saturday of each month from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. behind the gas company building at 301 N. Hockett St. in Porterville. The sales feature classics, fiction, nonfiction, travel, humor, history, Western, reference, mystery, large-print, cook, travel and text books. Computer manuals, DVDS, music, old records and videos will also be sold. All proceeds benefit the Porterville City Library and the Porterville Library Literacy Program.

tthe Barn Theater will be producing “Jam Jar Sonnets” Feb. 16, 17 and 18. It will run at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Sunday matinee on Feb. 18 will begin at 2:30 p.m. For reservations and prices, call 310-7046. A Sonnet, a poem in which one thought is developed in a single stanza. That single thought is presented by comedy, music and drama during the new play at the Porterville Barn Theater. Charles, played by Gordy Plaisted , has outgrown his panic attacks and inability to speak after the death of his father. He is still haunted by the memory of Amanda, played by Wendy Plaisted, the childhood friend who helped him conquer his insecurities as children. The two formed an intimate bond through poetry and Charles still regrets losing touch with her after she moved away. When Charles, now a revered professor of psychology finds one of Amanda’s poems on the back of a jam jar (hence the title Jam Jar Sonnets) he is determined to overcome his personal barriers in an effort to find the girl who always understood him. Other actors finishing out the drama are Crissy Bunch, Daniel Penoloza, A mbree Bough, Gennifer Garay, Omar Ortiz, Ava Garay, Charles Cuevos, Erica Arcos, Aaron Nucum, Kalliysta Tyler, Donna Serra, and John Olmos.
