Ann Carlson will serve as acting forest supervisor for the Sequoia National Forest until a permanent supervisor is selected later this year, the U.S. Forest Service announced. Carlson, forest supervisor on the Mendocino National Forest since April 2015, is taking on the temporary role behind Kevin Elliott who was selected as the forest supervisor for the Los Padres National Forest. Elliott served as Sequoia National Forest Supervisor from 2011 to 2018.

Carlson says she is excited about coming to the Sequoia National Forest as acting forest supervisor.

“I have been with the Forest Service for 29 years, love my job and the opportunities it has brought to meet and work with great people across the country,” Carlson said.

Carlson started her career as an aquatic specialist on the Tahoe National Forest where she worked for 13 years. She then served eight years as the regional aquatic ecologist for the Forest Service’s Northern Region, located in Missoula, Mont.

“Completing the Senior Leader Program in 2009, encouraged me to transition into a line position,” said Carlson. “I was selected as the district ranger on the Eagle Lake District of the Lassen National Forest in 2011 and served in acting line officer positions on the Nebraska National Forests and Grasslands, Buffalo Gap National Grasslands (Wall, SD), the Boise National Forest and the Modoc National Forest.”
