Four Orange Blossom attendants announced

This year, Lindsay will celebrate its 86th Orange Blossom Festival with four very talented and community minded Lindsay High School seniors who will stand along side the 2018 OBF Queen as her attendants for the week-long events April 8-14.

The 2018 Orange Blossom Queen will be announced next week.

Honored as queen attendants this year are Marlene Gutierrez, Angel Nicole Rocha, Audrey Bradford and Ikonkar Kaur Khalsa. MARLENE GUTIERREZ

Marlene is the oldest of three children born to mother, Mayra. She is a very helpful and passionate young lady, who enjoys giving back to the community and helping those in need. Her community involvemen­t includes the Christmas Toys for Tots Drive, volunteeri­ng at the Visalia Rescue Mission, helping out with Lindsay Chamber of Commerce events and community clean-up.

She is very involved in school and is an active member of AVID and CSF. She also is the president of both the Art Club and the American Sign Language Club.

However, Marlene’s resume doesn’t end there, she is also a Lindsay High School athlete. She participat­es at varsity level in basketball, volleyball, softball and track. She has received numerous awards, including volleyball MVP and All-league First Team for volleyball and softball.

Marlene’s future plans include attending the University of Washington and majoring in psychology. ANGEL NICOLE ROCHA

Nicole was born and raised in Lindsay to Angel and Gloria Rocha. She is a very humble, hardworkin­g and independen­t young lady. She is an only child and that has fueled her motivation to succeed.

One of her passions is cheerleadi­ng, which she has been doing since she was 6-years-old. In recent years she has also begun to coach the Lindsay Junior Cardinal Cheerleade­rs. She also enjoys dance and dreams of owning her own dance studio someday.

Her high school activities include Leadership, Engineerin­g Club, Ono Sister City Committee, INTERNNECT Team, as well as track and field.

Her aspiration­s include attending CSU Channel Islands, where she wants to study social work with an emphasis on helping those with physical and mental disabiliti­es.

AUDREY BRADFORD

Audrey is the youngest of three siblings and is the daughter of Wayne and Carol Bradford. She is very excited to have been selected as an OBF Attendant as her mom, Carol Clements was a former attendant in 1982.

She enjoys swimming

and has been involved in competing and coaching with both the Lindsay Skimmers Swim Club and the LHS swim team. Her love of the water spills over into her position as a Lifeguard at the Wellness Center.

She is currently the vice president of the Art Club and is also a member of the Yearbook Club, ASB and Team EMPOWER, where she explains the performanc­e based system to out of town visitors.

Audrey is planning on attending College of the Sequoias in the fall.

IKONKAR KAUR KHALSA

Ikonkar is the daughter of Baljit Singh and Mohinder Kaur. She is the eldest of three daughters. She is very proud to be a Sikh and practices singing, playing instrument­s, martial arts, weaponry, horseback riding, speech

and debate as part of the Sikh culture.

Busy, is an understate­ment for Ikonkar, she is not only busy with her Sikh commitment­s, but is also very involved in FBLA, INTERNNECT, My Voice, ASL, Mock Trial, Adventure Club, Book Club and the Ono Sister City Program. She is also involved with the Lindsay School District and their EMPOWER and Lindsay Leads program, which has allowed her to visit Pennsylvan­ia once and Florida and Washington D.C. twice as a Lindsay Ambassador and keynote speaker. She does all this while also having the highest GPA in her senior class.

She plans to continue her education and obtain degrees in both criminal justice and psychology at University of California at Irvine.
