There are many reasons to offer up a cheer this week. Below are a few.

Cheri Taylor, who is stepping down as executive director of Valley Adult Day Services, a position she has held for the past 25 years. We wish her the best in retirement.

The four Lindsay Orange Blossom Festival attendants — Marlene Gutierrez, Ikonkar Khalsa, Nicole Rocha and Audrey Bradford. The Orange Blossom Festival takes place the week of April 8-14.

The City of Portervill­e Wall of Fame honorees — Hoss Mcnutt, Richard B. Hatfield and Teddy Wong. The ceremony is at 3:30 p.m. today at the Heritage Center.

Cody O’connor, Chad Ellison and Nick Bastian for spearheadi­ng the effort behind the Dustin Marberry Invitation­al this Saturday, March 24, at the Portervill­e Fairground­s. The benefit will help Marberry as he recovers from serious bull riding injuries.

Bill Horst and the Portervill­e Historical Museum for hosting an appraisal fair at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 25 at the museum.

Portervill­e Lions Club for once again organizing the successful St. Patrick’s Day Brewfest held at the Portervill­e Veterans Memorial Building. About 500 people attended the event that will help the Lions Club’s community projects.

The organizers of the 2018 Man Alive, a Christian men’s conference held at Portervill­e Church of the Nazarene. All of the candidates that have chosen to step up and take part in the upcoming June primary.

The Lindsay City Council for approving a resolution saying they are in support of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. The seven local boys basketball players — three from Granite Hills High School and two each from Lindsay and Strathmore — that landed on All-east Sequoia League teams, including first teamers Armando Cabrera of GHHS, Javi Avalos of LHS and Jadon Guire of SHS. And to GHHS coach Bud Luther who was named ESL Coach of the Year.
