The City of Portervill­e’s Wall of Fame ceremony will be at 3:30 p.m. on March 23. The ceremony will take place at the Heritage Center. Each year since 2007 council members have nominated individual­s for the honor of being placed on the city’s Wall of Fame located inside the Portervill­e Heritage Community Center.

SATURDAY CASA of Tulare County’s second Annual Superhero Run is set for March 24 at Mooney Grove Park. The event features a 5K and 1K Run/walk (timed), raffle and a Superhero Costume Contest as well as a pancake breakfast served by the Visalia Breakfast Lions. Included with your registrati­on: One CASA Superhero Run t-shirt, a commemorat­ive gear bag and water bottle (first 75 registrant­s only); a finisher’s medal; and a chip timed race. sergeant Shepherd, the new costumed mascot for the Portervill­e Police Department, is available to appear at youth-oriented meetings and events. The mascot’s purpose is to spread the motto — “Stand Up and Speak Out!” According to the Police Department, Shepherd will be encouragin­g the community to “Stand Up” for family, friends and community, and “Speak Out” against drugs, bullies and crime.
