Monache FFA invites everyone to the 2nd Annual Farmer’s Day 5K, Farmer’s Market, and Plant Sale on Saturday, March 31.

The 5K will begin at 8 a.m. with registration from 7-7:45 a.m. The event is open to anyone and every one of all ages. You can pre-register online on active.com or register the morning of. Prices are $10 for 17 and under; $20 for 18 and over. Cash or check will only be accepted the morning of the race. Registration will be at the Bus Circle in front of Monache High School, on the corner of Newcomb and Mulberry. Parking is available on Mulberry Street next to the high school and the Agricultural Department, or on the North end of the High School. A Farmer’s Day t-shirt will be given to you at the time of registration, too.

You are welcome to explore the Farm, see the Farmer’s Market, or the Plant Sale as well. We will have farm fresh winter vegetables including cauliflower, broccoli, and cabbage along with fresh citrus including pomelos, blood oranges, Cara-caras, and navel oranges. At the Plant Sale, there will be perennial plants, six-packs of spring and summer vegetables, fruit trees, lots of succulents, and various gardening materials.

Besides the Farmer’s Market and Plant Sale, there will be student led tours of our facilities. The proceeds from Farmer’s Day will all go towards helping fund our agriculture program, including member participation in judging teams, community service events, livestock shows, leadership conferences, and conventions.

Monache FFA is proud of its many accomplishments, with two State Champion Judging teams in Citrus Judging and Fruit Tree Judging to its credit. In fact, just recently the Monache FFA Chapter was ranked as one of the top 20 chapters in the state of California, and received the Top 2-3 Person Department for the San Joaquin Region. So make sure to join us this Saturday, March 31, as we showcase our award winning agriculture program.
