H istory in the making today as for the first time ever we’re having our Annual Kids Fest and Egg Hunt on the same day and location. The Sports Complex is the spot you want to be 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. A few of the many attractions at Kids Fest include a 100 foot giant slide, teacup ride, jump around dune buggies and a spinning wrecking ball. Plus, there will be bounce houses, informational booths, food and more! Local performers will be taking the stage throughout the day with a special show from E & M’s Reptile Show. The event is designed for children ages 2-12, but the whole family can enjoy the festivities. Wristbands will be on sale at Kids Fest for $7 which will allow the children to participate on any of the attractions.

On the east side of the Sports Complex at 2 p.m., thousands of fun-filled eggs are up for grabs at our Egg Hunt. Among the sea of eggs, there will also be special ones that contain raffle tickets redeemable for prizes. The Egg Hunt is for ages 2-9. A guest appearance from the Bunny is also an added treat for the youngsters so don’t forget your cameras. The cost is only $3 per child and may be purchased on site.

A huge thanks to the sponsors of our own version of March Madness at the Sports Complex: Our presenting sponsor Giovanni’s Pizzeria, Sierra View District Hospital, U & Me Photobooth, Town & Country Market, Walmart Store and Walmart Distribution Center, K-TIP Radio, Hoops Preschool, State Farm Agent Maria Garcia, Galaxy Theatres, Porterville Breakfast Rotary Club and the Porterville Breakfast Lions Club. This wouldn’t be possible without friends like these!

Youth Track Meet

We are hosting a youth track and field meet on April 6 at Granite Hills High School. The meet is open to ages 7- 15 with elementary and middle school teams, track clubs and individual competitors welcome. The meet will give kids a chance to showcase things that they might have been working on in practices or just on their own and get a taste of a competitive track event. Gates will open at 3:45 p.m. and events begin at 4:30 p.m. Events include various sprinting and distance runs, relays, long jump, discus and shot put, javelin and high jump. There is even a 50-meter dash for ages 5 and under. Ribbons will be awarded to first through sixth place finishers in each event. Admission is only $3 for youth and adults and free for children ages five and under and no pre-registration is required.
