Charles (Chuck) Franklin Webber
Charles (Chuck) F. Webber, 82, of Porterville passed away at his home, after a short illness on April 8, 2018. Chuck was born in Monterey Park on December 13, 1935 to Carl and Adelaide (Foster) Webber. Chuck attended local Catholic schools and after some college joined the Navy where he served as an electrician on the U.S.S. Cavalier and U.S.S. Colahan. After the Navy he married Bernice Jacks and they settled in El Monte having 2 children, Michael and Nancy. In 1968, Chuck was promoted to General Manager of Olsen Mirrors in Strathmore and the family moved to the Porterville. Chuck continued with Olsen, later Sierra Mirrors, until the factory’s closure in the late 1990’s.
While in Porterville, Chuck was a member of the American Legion, The Lindsay Lions, and the Porterville Camera Club. He returned to school and earned his AS degree in Science and Mathematics in 1979 and his AA degree in Business Administration in 1983 from Porterville College. After retirement, Chuck spent his time as a Sheriff’s Department volunteer and as a member of the Tulare County Grand Jury, including 2 terms as their president.
Chuck is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Bernice who passed in 2013. He is survived by his children, Michael & Renell Webber of Sanger and Nancy & Jim Mckernan of Visalia. He had 5 grandchildren: Christopher Webber & his wife Stephanie of Visalia, Brent Webber & his wife Alyssa of Clovis, Justin Webber of Fresno, Katharine Mckernan of Fullerton, and Michael Mckernan of Visalia. He was also the proud greatgrandfather of Houston, Hadley, and Grant Webber.
A Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 13th, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Porterville. In lieu of Flowers, Chuck’s family would ask that you send donations in his name to Optimal Hospice, 2439 W. Whitendale, Visalia, CA 93277.
