Angela P. Garcia

-

Angela P. Garcia, (89) a longtime resident of Tulare County passed away Saturday, the 26th of May, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Angela was born in June of 1928 in Matamoros, Mexico to Bruno and Benita Ponce. In 1965 she moved to Tulare County where she provided for her family as a farm laborer and grader in packing houses throughout the county until her retirement.

Angela was a faithful member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Visalia. She loved to garden, sew, and was highly regarded for her exquisite food. Cooking was Angela’s passion and she continued hand making her beloved tortillas only days prior to her last breaths. Along with cooking, she had an affinity for plants, and had what some would label a green thumb. Plants flourished under her care and her home was complimented by a lush garden which she tended while accompanied by her pet parrots. Most of all, Angela enjoyed her family as they were her greatest accomplishment. Angela’s smile could light up the room and she will be sorely missed but the impact Angela left on her family will never be forgotten.

Angela was preceded in death by her husband Sixto, brother Augustine Ponce, brother Genaro Ponce, brother Tomas Ponce, sister Maria Ponce, sister Simona Medrano, and grandson Alejandro Garcia. She is survived by her sister Petra Fuentes (Jose) and 9 children: Oralia Teniente (Roy); Eleazar Garcia (Eloisa); Javier Garcia (Juanita-dec); Everardo Garcia (Rosa); Rosa Jimenez; Monica Ledesma (Alex); Mirtha Diaz (Ralphdec); Mary Garay (John); Maria Garza (Gilbert) and numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who brought great joy to her in later years.
