CLUBS

TUESDAY Pack 139 Cub Scouts, ages 6 to 11, meets 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Boy Scouts, ages 11 and older, meet from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The meetings are held each Tuesday at the Scout Shack just north of and behind the Barn Theater in Portervill­e. White River Prospector­s, the Portervill­e Chapter of the Gold Prospector­s Associatio­n of America, meets the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Gold Hills Clubhouse at 720 E. Worth Dr. in Portervill­e. The meetings, and membership in the chapter, are free and open to the public. Members participat­e in gold panning, prospectin­g, metal detecting, outings and informativ­e meetings. Teaching opportunit­ies are also available. WEDNESDAY The American Legion Post 20 and Legion Riders Chapter 20 meets every first and third Wednesday of the month at the Veteran’s Memorial Building at 1900 W. Olive Avenue. Social hour begins at 6 p.m. and the Legion Riders meeting begins at 6 p.m. followed by the American Legion Post meeting at 7 p.m. The third Wednesday features a potluck dinner. TUESDAY The Portervill­e farmers market will start Tuesday, June 5, and will run through Tuesday, July 10 at Sierra View Medical Center. The market will start up again on Tuesday, July 17 and will run until Tuesday, Aug. 21 at Portervill­e City Hall. The market will run from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays. the market will accept EBT, WIC, and SVMC’S Healthy Bucks. The market will also accept Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) vouchers. Interested farmers can apply at www. visalifarm­ersmarket.com. Bingo is offered by the Portervill­e Elks Lodge with the doors opening at 5 p.m. each Tuesday on the corner of Main Street and Morton Avenue. The earlybird game starts at 6:45 p.m. Buy-in is $15. TUESDAY Tulare County Resource Family Approval, previously known as Foster Care Licensing, offers orientatio­ns twice per month for prospectiv­e Resource families. Orientatio­ns are held from 6 to 9 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays at the Profession­al Developmen­t Center, 4031 W. Noble Ave. Entrance is at the bottom of the two-story building next to Employment Connection. Orientatio­ns are held on the second floor. The door will be locked at 6 p.m. People who are interested in helping will need to attend one orientatio­n meeting, and meet requiremen­ts such as being at least 18 years old, being financiall­y able to support their own family, having no criminal record and a clear health screening and being certified in CPR and first aid.
