Anne Edith Rogers Bussey Christenson

-

Anne Edith Rogers Bussey Christenson passed away peacefully at her residence on June 8, 2018 at the age of 90. She enjoyed life, never complained, loved being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and helper to all.

Anne was born at home in Covington, Kentucky on September 4, 1927 to Clarence and Mary Rogers. She had an older brother, John Harold. Anne grew up during the great depression and while means were scarce she enjoyed a happy childhood. She attended Holmes High School in Covington, where her favorite class was Home Economics and she developed her love of sewing. This talent led to future employment opportunities, making beautiful clothing for her daughters, and later in life a love for quilting.

Following graduation from high school she attended Eastern Kentucky State Teachers College. It was there that she became engaged to and then married John Bussey on August 30, 1947. Following John’s graduation, they relocated to Porterville, California where he had accepted a teaching position as a history teacher at Bartlett Junior High School.

She worked for two local doctors and then for the Porterville School District, in their curriculum department. She later accepted a position as a bookkeeper at Town and Country Market a position she held and loved for over two decades.

She loved being a mother to her three children, Janne, Phil and Teemaree and later to her six step-children. She never missed a school or church activity where her children were involved. She carried on this support with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending their graduations, weddings and other important family events up until she was no longer able to travel.

After an amicable divorce from John, she met and married Don Christenson on October 8, 1982. They remained in Porterville where they enjoyed Don’s family as well as her own, to his children and grandchildren Anne was their beloved grandmother.

Following Don’s passing in August of 2000, Anne remained in Porterville where she was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, enjoyed attending various family and local activities, and participated in two quilting groups.

Up until her passing, Anne served others in small, yet profound ways. Her impact will be felt for years to come. We will miss her smile, her unyielding faith and the unconditional love that she extended to all.

She is preceded in death by her parents and elder brother; her husband, Don Christenson, her step-son, Robert Christenson; and her prior husband, John Bussey.

She is survived by her three children, Janne Hudner (Dennis) of Vienna, VA, Philip Bussey (Cathy) of Fall City, WA, and Teemaree Capener (Mike) of Concord, CA; as well as her nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren; five step-children and a step-daughter-inlaw, Peter Christenson (Karen) of West Valley, UT, Don “Chris” Christenson (Karen) of Orem, UT, Ladawn Christenson of Porterville, CA, Richard Christenson (Kathy) of Porterville, CA, Glena Roper (Glade) of Porterville, CA, and James Christenson (Debby) of Visalia, CA. She is also survived by 36 grandchildren and over 100 great grandchildren.
