Peggy Catherine Siemer

-

Peggy Siemer was born Peggy Catherine Spears on June 1, 1937. Throughout her life she worked hard and with passion at everything she took on. As a child in the 1940’s she grew up working and living in local farm labor camps. She was very loyal to her humble roots here in the Central Valley. Some of her paid careers over the years were secretary, child care giver, entomologist and ultimately; Teacher. Mother, sister, daughter, wife, aunt, cousin and friend. She was creative, smart, funny and wicked honest with her advice and opinions. She was one of the most prolific quilt makers you’ll ever find. When she wasn’t sewing quilts or shopping online for fabric she loved to cook, maintain the wonderful gardens around her home, read voraciously, go junk shopping, and binge watch Netflix. She LLVED the life she created for herself.

In 1955 she married Jerry Crumal (deceased) in Porterville. They had two children pretty quickly; Jerelyn Suzanne (Crumal) and Jennifer (Duncan), and a few years later they had Stacey (Riley). In 1975 she married Sidney Siemer (deceased) for a short time and together they had Andrew Tobias (Siemer). From her four children she very much loved and enjoyed her ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

She was an independent woman to the end. She always said she hoped to “go quickly”, so that she wouldn’t “be a burden” to anyone. Happily for her, sadly for her survivors, she got her wish on June 13.
