SATURDAY GAPX – The Band will be performing on Saturday, June 16 at Eagle Mountain Casino for an 8 p.m. show. Charles Hickinbotham directs a cast of 14 actors who use their voices and live-action sound effects to create the scenes of “The Lodger,” “Sabotage,” and “The 39 Steps,” in an old-fashioned radio play presented by the KBRN Radio Players. Performances are Friday and Saturday, June 8 and 9, at 7:30 p.m, with performances the first three weekends in June, including two Sunday matinees, June 10 and June 17, at 2:30 p.m. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays, June 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday matinee’s June 10 and 17 at 2:30 p.m. With a special Sunday matinee Brunch June 17, at 12:30 p.m. Brunch is $15 per person, and reservations are required by Wednesday, June 13. Registration for Porterville’s Summer day camp is underway. According to a Porterville Parks and Leisure Services’ press release, the camp “provides children with a summer adventure and tons of fun.” Daily activities will include arts and crafts, games, skits and songs, sports and swimming. The camp is designed for children ages 5-12, and will be hosted at the Heritage Center at 256 E. Orange Ave. on Mondays through Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sessions begin June 11 and continue through Aug. 3. Cost is $95 per week and includes lunch and an afternoon snack. Join the Visalia Branch and other Tulare County libraries for their annual Summer Reading program — signups begin Tuesday, June 6. From June 12 through July 21, “Reading Takes You Everywhere,” for all of the children of Tulare County with programs at all 17 branch libraries. Tulare County Library offers Summer Reading where children read books for fun and attend events with cultural and educational entertainment. Children, even toddlers, are encouraged to read books for rewards including beach balls, noise putty, and even earn a free book.
