Freedom Fest returns Saturday
An event that is both appreciated and anticipated by the Porterville community is happening Saturday, June 30.
That’s right, Freedom Fest is back again, and all Porterville residents are invited to come out and enjoy the eighth annual event full of activities.
The event will once again be taking place at the Porterville Sports Complex, 2701 W Scranton Ave, just west of the Municipal Airport.
Amy Greybehl, Porterville Parks & Leisure services specialist has been working to organize the event.
“I’m looking forward to another event where the community is having a good time with their friends and family,” said Graybehl.
This year’s event will feature live music by The Blue Jackets, a flying demonstration by the All Red Star Formation Flying Team, and a new superhero experience by the Hero Alliance, which will begin at 7 p.m. with four super heroes that kids can meet and greet, followed by a performance.
An array of craft and food vendors will also be there for people to enjoy while they wait for the highly-anticipated 25 minute firework show spectacular.
“Almost double the amount of vendors in comparison to last year will be there,” says Greybehl. “I think the most special part is the fire work show. It’s a very professional show that you can’t get anywhere else nearby.”
Gates will open at 4 p.m., and festivities will kick off starting 5 p.m., ending with the firework show at 9 p.m.
“For our community, it’s just an awesome display of people coming together to celebrate the holiday,” says Greybehl.
Entry fees for Freedom Fest are per carload, starting at $10 in advance, $15 the day of the event and a limited amount of preferred parking passes are available for $20.
Tickets can be purchased at City Hall (Parks & Leisure Services) or at the Heritage Center.
