TCSO:FRAUD callers strike again
It has been reported to the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office that members of the public have again been receiving phone calls from person or persons impersonating officers and asking for money.
In the latest incident, subjects identifying themselves as Sgt. Warren and/ or Sgt. Warner from the Tulare County Sheriff’s Civil Division are reportedly asking for payment for a pre-set bond in lieu of a federal arrest warrant being served on the receiver of the call.
The male subject(s) have been described as having an accent and becoming angry when confronted about the legitimacy of the call.
While some of the details used by the caller are factual in nature, such as the courthouse address and agency phone numbers, no one from the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office requests fines or payments be made over the phone in lieu of arrest or for any other reason.
Similar incidents took place in May, when a subject claiming to be TCSO Lieutenant Corey Jones asked for $1,500 in fines from a Porterville resident for missing a court date.
