Lila Galloway lost her battle with cancer on April 26, 2018. She greeted the battle with faith and courage. Her optimistic attitude sustained through years of treatment.

Lila was born May 24, 1937 the first child to Nolan Eugene Pitts and Peggy Rachel Darby Pitts in Glendale Arizona.

She was raised and educated in Lindsay California. A proud member of the Lindsay High School Class of 1955.

She and her husband establishe­d and operated Galloway’s Sweet Shoppe Bakery until her retirement in 1994. She had a reputation as a fabulous pie baker with wit and grit. Lila was an accomplish­ed pianist that studied during her youth with the late Jane Beeson. The family has the great memory of her playing a wide range of music at home, big band preference. She was a long-time chaperon and supporter to the Portervill­e Panther Band.

In retirement, Lila traveled the USA visiting most of the 50 States. She especially enjoyed the South and Washington DC, she loved the history. She was a regular Duplicate Bridge player with groups in Reno, Portervill­e, Visalia.

Lila is survived by her son Greg Galloway of Portervill­e, daughter Lynne and son in law Alan Lambert of Reno, daughters Kathy Patterson and Merry Dale of Portervill­e. Sister Sharon Pitts Latona of Anaheim, brother Mike Pitts and sister in law Arta of Reno, sister in law Marsha Mauldin of Woodland. 10 grandchild­ren and 15 great grandchild­ren will affectiona­tely remember her as Grandma Lila. Numerous nieces and nephews will miss Aunt Lila.

She is preceded in death by her father Nolan Pitts, stepfather N. B. Mauldin, mother Peggy Mauldin, husband Dawson Galloway, sister in law Evon Miller, companion Bob Kyker, son in law Eddie Dale, son in law Cliff Patterson, daughter in law Linda Galloway.

Lila loved, cared and provided care for those that passed before her; such a loving soul.

A Celebratio­n of Life is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. July 21, 2018 at the Galloway Ranch 24233 Ave 106 Terra Bella CA 93270. Please join the family in sharing the remembranc­e of Lila. She could weave a good story, its our time to return the sentiment.
