PPD arrest three gang members on gun charges
The Porterville Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit conducted a traffic stop at 6:30 p.m. Saturday on a vehicle in the 1000 block of North Indiana Street and contacted three occupants inside the vehicle who were identified as Cristal Montoya, Aliyah Cabeje, and Santiago Alvarado.
All three occupants were identified as active criminal street gang members, and Montoya and Cabeje were on active county probation.
Detectives conducted a search of the vehicle pursuant to Montoya and Cabeje’s probation terms and conditions. During the search, detectives located three loaded firearms, one which was reported stolen, and a high capacity ammunition magazine.
Cristal Montoya, 23, was arrested and booked at the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office Pre-trial Facility for Possession of a Loaded Firearm in Public, Gang Member in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a High Capacity Ammunition Magazine, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Participation in a Criminal Street Gang, and Violation of Probation. She is being held in lieu of $75,000 bail.
Aliyah Cabeje, 22, was arrested and booked at the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office Pre-trial Facility for Possession of a Loaded Firearm in Public, Gang Member in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a High Capacity Ammunition Magazine, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Participation in a Criminal Street Gang, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Felon in Possession of Ammunition, and Violation of Probation. She is being held in lieu of $75,000 bail.
Santiago Alvarado, 23, was arrested and booked at the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office Pre-trial Facility for Possession of a Loaded Firearm in Public, Gang Member in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a High Capacity Ammunition Magazine, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and Participation in a Criminal Street Gang. He is being held in lieu of $75,000 bail.
