Little League 10u, 11u begin State tourney today
Teams still raising money for trip
Two Porterville Little League All-star teams once again have the chance to represent the city on a state level when they take the field today at their respective Northern California State Championships in Palo Alto and West Sacramento.
Both the Porterville 10u and 11u All-star teams qualified for the double-elimination state tournament by winning their Northern California Section 7 Championship tournaments last weekend.
The District 34 champion 10u team went undefeated in their section tournament held at Burton Ballfields and defeated Taft 3-2 for the title.
Playing in Fresno, the District 34 champion 11u team dropped one game in the section tournament but beat Reedley 6-2 in the championship game to advance.
In the first round of Saturday’s state tournament games the Porterville 10u team will face the Section 2 champions in a 4 p.m. game at the shaded Middlefield Ballpark in Palo Alto.
Palo Alto Little League streams their field with a live camera and the stream can be viewed at https://www.yourgamecam.com/?facility=pall.
Also starting the tournament at 4 p.m. on Saturday is the Porterville 11u team. They will take on Linden, the Section 6 champion, at Memorial Park in West Sacramento.
Both teams are still raising money for the trip since tournaments will stretch throughout the upcoming week if they continue to win.
