Lindsay City Council to hear input on campaign signs
Lindsay city council will meet on Tuesday at 6 p.m., and with election season right around the corner, a public hearing will be held in regards to political campaign signs.
“I believe it will have to do with the placement of them and the time period in which they can be up,” Bret Harmon, Lindsay’s city clerk said.
Currently, the city of Lindsay requires a permit for any potential sign postings unless they are portable or temporary. No permit is required for address numbers, small business letters or public safety signs as well.
Political campaign signs are exempt from needing a permit and are defined as temporary outdoor advertising signs visible from the public right-of-way.
By including political campaign signs as exempt from requiring a permit, community members will have the opportunity to express political support freely.
If campaign signs are found to be in violation of the rules, they will be removed immediately.
If needed, sign application forms are available through the city and must be filed with the community development department.
Other matters up for discussion at Tuesday’s meeting will include:
Continued maintenance of landscape and lighting maintenance districts
Confirmation of the engineer’s report and assessment for the fiscal year (FY) 2018-19
The first reading of ordinance No. 569, which will overview new definitions for conformance to state law

Awarding of a contract for roundabout project engineers
