FRIDAY Lindsay Night Market has started for the 2018 season, and will continue through the fall. The market is held each Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. in downtown Lindsay. It features food, vendors and other activities. Main Street concert series is held each Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Centennial Park across from City Hall. The concerts, which feature local talent, are free. Attendees are advised to bring a lawn chair or blanket. SATURDAY tporterville city library’s summer reading finale carnival Wrap up summer reading with some fun! Join the Porterville City Library for their Finale Carnival on August 4 at Centennial Park and say goodbye to summer. Enjoy funnel cakes and get to know E&M’S Reptile Family as they bring out some friends which include a python, tortoise, tarantula, and more. The event takes place from 9:00 am- 12:00 pm and the reptile show starts at 10:00 am. There will also be community booths, raffles, an obstacle course and rock climbing wall. The Friends of the Library will hold book sales on the first Saturday of each month from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. behind the gas company building at 301 N. Hockett St. in Porterville. The sales feature classics, fiction, non-fiction, travel, humor, history, Western, reference, mystery, large-print, cook, travel and text books. Computer manuals, DVDS, music, old records and videos will also be sold. All proceeds benefit the Porterville City Library and the Porterville Library Literacy Program.

SATURDAY A free keto diet class and support group is being held from 2-4 p.m. each Saturday between Aug. 11 and Sep. 29 in the History Room of the Porterville City Library. The ketogenic, keto for short, diet is a very low-carb diet, which turns the body into a fatburning machine. The class and group is being run by a local registered nurse. tregistration for Porterville’s Summer day camp is underway. According to a Porterville Parks and Leisure Services’ press release, the camp “provides children with a summer adventure and tons of fun.” Daily activities will include arts and crafts, games, skits and songs, sports and swimming. The camp is designed for children ages 5-12, and will be hosted at the Heritage Center at 256 E. Orange Ave. on Mondays through Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sessions begin June 11 and continue through Aug. 3. Cost is $95 per week and includes lunch and an afternoon snack. City Pool will be open through Labor Day.
The pool is open daily from 1 to 5 p.m. for recreational use through the Labor Day holiday. Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for youth, ages 12 and under.
