The City of Lindsay will swear in two new Public Safety Lieutenants at the upcoming City Council meeting on Tuesday.

“We are holding off on announcing names until the Council meeting,” said Lindsay’s City Clerk Bret Harmon.

City Council and City Staff will give their reports after the swear in ceremony is complete.

The consent calendar for Tuesday’s meeting sits at seven items, including the renewal of the Police Firing Range Cooperative Agreement, a letter to the Bureau of Cannabis Control and approval of Resolutions 18-39 and 18-40.

Director of City Service Mike Camarena and Director of Community Initiatives Albert Candejas will present to the Council a property license agreement with Community Services Employment Training (CSET).

CSET has provided Senior Service programs at the Lindsay Community Center for 5 years, and manages and operates these senior programs with no financial commitment from the City.

An update on the 4th of July and fireworks will be presented by Police Chief Chris Hughes.

A second reading for Ordinance 568 and Ordinance 569 will take place. If approved these ordinances will be placed in print and enforced 30 days thereafter.

At the Council’s previous meeting in July, Council Member Velasquez stepped down from his position on the Economic Development Corporation (EDC) leaving a vacancy of representation for Lindsay on the EDC board.

At the upcoming meeting, the Council will discuss who will replace Velasquez as the new representative board member.

Also up for discussion this meeting is possible processes for naming the new soccer park.

“We are opening this up for discussion with the Council on how they would like to go,” answered Harmon when asked about how the soccer park

name would be chosen. “This is going to define the process.”

The public is encouraged to attend and comment

on any items or concerns they may have regarding city issues, events or matters.

This meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 14 at 6 p.m. in the Lindsay City Hall located at 251 E. Honolulu Street.
