Corporate games, Veterans Day Run headline fall activity lineup

Dive-in Theatre Enjoy a family movie under the stars while relaxing in the water at our City Pool. The final Dive-in Theatre of the season will take place tonight! Gates open at 7:30 pm and Kubo and the Two Strings will begin at dusk. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children. Space is limited at the pool, so we recommend that you get there early to get your spot. Pool Open through Labor Day Now that school is back in session, the City Pool will remain open on weekends only through the Labor Day holiday. That means that there are just a few more opportunit­ies to escape from the heat and enjoy the Pool's dive tank, water features and 137' giant water slide. Recreation­al swim hours will be on Saturday and Sunday from 1:00- 5:00 pm and the cost is $2 for adults and $1 for youth ages 12 and under.

Corporate Games The seventh annual Portervill­e Corporate Games will take place September 11-21. This premier business- tobusiness competitio­n brings local organizati­ons of all sizes together for a variety of fun and entertaini­ng activities all while vying for the most accumulate­d points and ultimately, ownership of the coveted Corporate Cup. This year's Games will feature cornhole, a spelling bee, bowling, archery, volleyball, foot golf, a home run derby, hoop shoot-out and obstacle course. Farmers Market Have you been to the Downtown Farmers Market yet? Every Tuesday, from 8:0011:30 am, during the month of August, you can pick up your fresh produce and sample some tasty treats from food trucks right on Main Street in front of City Hall. Come down to get a taste of Tulare County. Shop local and eat healthy!

Rib Cook-off Calling all backyard BBQ enthusiast­s! Try your hand at grilling the perfect barbecue ribs for a chance to win cash prizes or the People's Choice trophy. The sixth annual Pioneer Days and Rib Cook-off is set for October 14 and gives grilling fanatics of all levels the venue to showcase their skills. Cost to enter the cookoff is only $100 and includes the ribs. Check out the City of Portervill­e website for more details. Veterans Day Run The annual Veterans Day Run will take place on November 11 in Downtown Portervill­e and it is never too early to start training! This is a great race for those of you that may want to try running the course for the first time. Runners and walkers of all ages from around the valley join in this scenic route to compete for top honors. The race begins at 7:30 am in front of City Hall prior to the annual Veterans Day Parade and features a 10K run, 5K run, 5K walk and a free kid's fun run. Registrati­on informatio­n coming soon.
