GIRLS GOLF

Golden West 264 Monache 342

Monache High School girls golf fell 264-342 to Golden West in their season-opening match at River Island Country Club Tuesday afternoon.

Scoring for the Marauders was Danielle Margosian with a 48, Rachel Clement with 56, and Kere Martinez and Alondra Garcia with 77 each. Isabel Sutherland also carded a 93 for Monache.

“Very pleased with the team as a whole,” MHS head coach Jake Winter said. “With four first

time golfers I don’t know that I’ve ever seen such a smooth first round to open the year. The scores are high but that’s due mostly to the length of the course and their distance right now. All the girls are hitting the ball consistently down the fairway and it’s just a matter of time. The distance will come and the scores will go down. Good start to the season, looking forward to seeing how much these girls improve.”

Monache’s next match is today in Sanger.
