MHS fall to HHS on the road

The Monache High School girls golf team lost 286-327 to Hanford on the road in Tuesday’s nonleague match.

For the Marauders’ Danielle Margosian shot a 54, Rachel Clement and Judith Cordero each carded a 65, Kere Martinez shot a 69, Katie Land shot a 74 and Alondra Garcia shot a 78.

“Danielle Margosian played today even though she was feeling a little under the weather,” MHS head coach Jake Winter said. “Rachel Clement had a rough day but still managed to pull out a 65. Judith Cordero continues to improve and have another solid round at 65. Kere Martinez shot in the 60s for the first time. Sixtynine [was] not bad for being her third round ever.”

Winter added, “We are right around the 325-mark with hopes of being below 300 before league starts. The girls [work hard] and improve daily. I’m hopeful that we get there.”

Redwood 229 Portervill­e 341

Portervill­e High School’s girls golf team fell 229-341 to Redwood in Tuesday’s non-league match at River Island Country Club.

For the Panthers Angela Eugene shot a 61, Dora Jimenez shot a 63, Aunika Marquez and Kayla Johnson each shot a 74 to score for Portervill­e.

“One team goal is to always break 300 which I am confident that we will this year,” PHS head coach David Herrera said. “I have a great group of girls that are having fun and practicing hard to improve.”
