Ophelia P. Garica
Surrounded by her family, Ophelia P. Garcia (Duran) age 75, passed away August 22, 2018 in Porterville.
She was born March 17, 1943 in Las Cruces, New Mexico to Domingo and Concepcion (Flores) Duran. She was the oldest of 14 siblings.
Ophelia married Fermin B. Garcia on February 11, 1961 in Tipton, CA., they made their home in Los Angeles County. Together they had four children, Adan, Angelita, Andres, and Ana.
Ophelia devoted all her time and energy on her husband, children and grandchildren unless, well unless there was a bowling tournament happening. Ophelia with family in tow could often be found at the nearest bowling alley. When she broke her bowling (right) wrist, she learned to bowl with her left hand, not skipping a beat.
Ophelia also had a knack for crafting and would often times take her patient loving husband all over the county to find the perfect material or sewing accessory. She didn’t stop until she bought 5-10 things she really didn’t need and that ONE item she did. Her family and friends have been blessed with her creations. Ophelia had 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Fermin, her son Adan Garcia and his wife Maggie, her daughters Angelita Ramirez and her husband Rugen and Ana Bugarin and her husband Dwayne and 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and Cookie her beloved dog.
At the gates of heaven she was met by her son Andres Garcia and her parents, Domingo Duran and Concepcion Flores and her beloved dogs, Crystal, Corey, Jaws, Pebbles, Bambam, Bumm, Peewee, BA, and Princess.
Ophelia - wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother but most importantly Best Friend to us all.
Visitation Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 4pm - 7pm Porterville Funeral & Cremation Center. Recitation of the Holy Rosary 6pm Thursday, August 30, 2018. Mass of the Resurrection will be 11am Friday, August 31, 2018, St. Anne's Catholic Church.
