New contest at Springville Apple Festival
Each year the Springville Apple Festival offers a new element to add to the excitement and attractions which have endeared the celebration to the community for the past 37 years. This year is no exception. Contributing to this year's festivities will be an Apple Baking Contest. The Festival Committee is looking forward to viewing the best apple creations made by the greatest cooks in the valley. Join the contest and show of your baking skills.
There will be two categories: junior bakers 13 and younger and senior bakers 14 and up.
All entries must be brought to the gazebo in the park by 11:00 Saturday, October 20th. Entries can be flour based products such as cakes and pies or non-flour products such as apple crisps or baked apples. The entries will be judged at noon and the remainder will be sold to the public after judging. Prizes will be awarded to first and second place winners in each age group.
All entries must be homemade, contain apples, and be large enough to serve at least 6 people. All foods must be covered to keep it clean and fresh. Refrigeration will be provided for perishables and frozen entries.
Please bring your entries in a disposable container (plate, bowl, pie tin, etc) with the entrant's name, age, address and phone number on a card taped to the bottom of the dish so that all entries may be judged anonymously.
The contest will show off the best apple goodies in the valley. Please join by entering your own special treat or be on hand to purchase one to take home and enjoy.
