Family literacy day
In celebration of Adult Literacy Awareness Month the Porterville City Library's Adult Learning Center invites literacy tutors, adult learners, and their families along with the community to a special Family Literacy Day on Saturday, September 22, from 11:00 am- 2:00 pm at the Centennial Park.
September has been proclaimed Adult Literacy Awareness Month. The focus of the month is to expand awareness about the need for adult literacy services in our communities and to recruit new tutors and other volunteers to support those programs. The celebration also reminds us that we all have a chance to change a life for the better.
Activities will include: Face painting, Rock Climbing, Raffles and Music. Hot Dogs, Chips, and Refreshments. City of Porterville - Community Development information and giveaways. Galaxy Theatre – Information, poster and popcorn giveaway. Family Health Care – Blood Pressure screening information and giveaways. Friends of the Library - Free books. Porterville Library - Information and Spin ‘n' Win Wheel. Porterville Police Department – Bicycle, pedestrian safety and crime prevention information and giveaways. Wells Fargo Bank- Financial wellness information and giveaways. Anthem Blue Cross- Medical health plan information and giveaways.
