Two arrested for brandishing firearm at restaurant
Two Porterville residents were arrested at their home last Wednesday after brandishing a firearm at a fast food restaurant.
Wednesday at about 8:36 p.m. PPD officers responded to Wendy’s Restaurant, located at 860 West Henderson Avenue, regarding subjects in a vehicle brandishing a firearm.
Witnesses were able to obtain a license plate number, which led officers to the 900 block of West Putnam Avenue, where they located the vehicle and detained two subjects identified as Hugo Ramirez and Monique Ramirez.
Further investigation revealed a loaded handgun in the vehicle and that Hugo was in possession and under the influence of a controlled substance. Hugo was arrested and later booked into the Tulare County Jail for the above listed charges where he is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Monique was arrested and later cited and released for possession of a concealable firearm in public. No victims of a brandishing were located.
Porterville man arrested after fleeing traffic stop
On Friday at approximately 7:25 a.m., PPD officers attempted to conuduct a traffic stop on a white Nissan sedan for a traffic violation in the area of Highway 65 and West North Grand Avenue.
The driver failed to yield and a pursuit ensued. After several minutes the driver pulled into the driveway of a residence in the 1500 block of West North Grand and fled on foot from the vehicle into a residence. Assisting officers arrived and contact was made at the residence where they arrested Michael Sean Sanchez for five active arrest warrants. Sanchez was later booked into the Tulare County Jail on the above listed charges where he is currently being held in lieu of a $150,000 bail.
