Grove to speak at SETCO general meeting today
Shannon Grove, candidate for California State Senate 16th District, will be the guest speaker at the Southeastern Tulare County Republican Women Federated's general meeting Tuesday, Oct 10 11:25 a.m. at El Nuevo Mexicali II in Porterville. Lunch for the event is $15.
Although born in Bakersfield, Shannon was raised by her single mom in Arvin, CA. After graduating from Arvin High School, she joined the United States Army and served at Headquarters Company 5th Corps in Frankfurt, Germany, where she personally witnessed the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 as the Soviet Union fell apart.
After finishing her Army service, Shannon returned to Bakersfield. In 1993, she started an employment agency with her sister-in-law called Continental Labor Staffing Resources, with a focus on serving the energy and food production industries.
From humble beginnings, her employment agency has grown into a successful small business that has launched tens of thousands of Central Valley residents into life-long careers.
Shannon decided to pursue representing the interests of Kern County hand was elected to the California State Assembly in 2010. Over the next six years, she fiercely defended her community's values and its industries, proudly reminding her fellow legislators that Kern County feeds and fuels the nation. Shannon was the first woman veteran elected to the Assembly and hopes to represent our valley as California Senator for the 16th District.
