On September 27th, the Porterville 20-ands club, which disbanded in September 2017, gathered at the home of Nancy Lewis for a one year reunion. There were fifteen ladies at the poolside and garden dinner.

The hostesses were Sandy Achterberg, Cheryl Anderson, and Nancy Lewis. Tables were set with beige and yellow tablecloths, candles, and vases filled with daisies which were the club flower.

The ladies were greeted with a table of hors d'oeuvres and beverages. A spaghetti dinner was served with a tossed salad and garlic bread. And a decorated cake with “one Year Reunion” written on it was served for dessert.

The club began in 1941 and was the only Porterville club with no outside affiliations connected to it. On display at the event were 21 albums that were condensed from 76 years of scrapbooks. The scrapbooks contain the history of the club as well as a great deal of Porterville's history. Plans are underway to have the local museum house them.

Beverly Gorne read an old KTIP broadcast that was written in 1953, and read on air by Frank Brown. The broadcast was a commemoration of the 20-ands club and the good standing they had in the community.

After dinner, but before dessert, a White Elephant drawing was CONTRUBTED PHOTO held. This was followed by a great deal of visiting and ended with the ladies agreeing to meet again next year.

The ladies attending the event were: Sandy Achterberg, Cheryl Anderson, Rotha Anderson, Betty Blackmon, Charlene Branch, Frances Della, Ann Esmay, Verla Everett, Shirley J. Gemmell, Beverly Gorne, Karen Jordan, Gwen Lawson, Nancy Lewis, Nancy Likins, and Lois Swaney.
