First Christian Church holds Breaking of the Bread women’s ministry every Friday night at 5:30 p.m. The breaking of bread celebration includes potlucks, worship, craft projects and fellowship. The Tule River Historical Museum is open to the public from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays with no admission charge. The museum houses a collection of vintage lumber mill and farm equipment. Antiques from local families are on display in the 1860 Murphy House and in the main museum. Salad Bar Luncheon. The Women’s Ministry at First Southern Baptist Church, 1641 W. Henderson, Porterville is hosting a salad bar luncheon on Saturday October 27 at 12 noon. The special luncheon will be highlighting Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Speakers will be Janet Todd a breast cancer survivor and Dee Gonzales a professional in the breast cancer field.the luncheon will be held in the Friendship Hall (Building B). Trunk of Treat. Porterville First Assembly of God Church, located at 105 East Olive, is holding their annual Truck or Treat event on Sunday, October 28, from 5:30 - 7 p.m. The event is open and free to the public.

Fashion Show. The Strathmore Town and Country is putting on a fashion show at 12 p.m., November 3, at the Strathmore Memerial Building. Tickets are $15 each, and limited. It Is Never too Late to Write Your Book. Authors Marilyn Meredith and Shirley Hickman will discuss the writing process. Their books will be available for purchase. Event will be in the Conference Room at Centennial Plaza, 15 E. Thurman St. and will take place 10:30 to 12:00, November 17.
Coming to America. Ela Pandya will share her experiences of moving from India. The talk will take place in the Historical Room in the Public Library from 10:30 to 12:00, February 9.
