Son charged after parents, dog die in house fire

A man whose parents and the family dog were found dead after a Southern California house fire has been charged with two counts of murder and arson.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office says Wednesday that Ryan Venti is also charged with cruelty to an animal.

It's unclear whether the 33-year-old has an attorney. Arraignment is scheduled for later Wednesday.

The bodies of John and Linda Venti and their dog were found in a bedroom after flames were doused at the family's home in Diamond Bar last Friday.

Ryan Venti was arrested Monday after neighbors called 911 to report seeing him at the home.

Based on his physical appearance, investigators say they believe he has been hiding in the surrounding hills and brush.

Detectives say the motive is unclear.
