Lois Jean Alexander, long time teacher at Burton Elementary School, went to be with the Lord on October 29, 2018. She was 91.

A memorial service for Lois Alexander will be held at Portervill­e Church of the Nazarene, Monday, November 19th at 11:00 a.m., the Rev. Mark Pitcher officiatin­g.

Lois is survived by her son, David (Sandy) Alexander; her daughter, Jeanine Alexander; her son, Kenny (Debbie) Alexander. She was blessed with six grandchild­ren and five great grandchild­ren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Dave Alexander.

Born October 12, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan, Lois grew up in New Rockford, North Dakota. In 1945, Lois enrolled at Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, Idaho. There she met Dave Alexander. Lois and Dave were married on August 7, 1947 and shared life together for 57 years until Dave’s passing in 2005.

Lois was known for her sweet spirit and infectious smile. A woman of tenacity, love and principle, Lois always did what needed to be done as she journeyed with her husband and raised her family.

Lois enjoyed a long and fruitful tenure as a sixth grade teacher at Burton Elementary School in Portervill­e, California. Known for her high standards, high expectatio­ns and love of learning, Lois shaped many a life in her Burton Elementary sixth grade classroom.

Across the years Lois walked with her husband, as together they served the Lord and the church. Upon retirement, Lois and Dave joined the Portervill­e Church of the Nazarene where they taught Sunday School and enjoyed fellowship for many years. The final years of Lois’s life were lived with her daughter, Jeanine, and her family in San Francisco.
